Weather that featured partial sun with little or no wind created ideal
conditions for birding this morning at West End. Just south of the entrance
road to the West End marina there were three White-crowned Sparrows. While
scoping Jones Inlet we heard birds calling overhead that proved to be four
Tundra Swans. The swans flew south over the ocean and then headed west. On the
mudflats there were seven American Oystercatchers. Other flyby birds included
Great Egret (1)and American Pipit (1). Half-hardies included Ruby-crowned
Kinglet (2), Gray Catbird (2), and Hermit Thrush (1).
