Hi all,

A dizzying array of excellent species today in Central Park. I birded
the Ramble and surrounding areas from 7-1 with Hudson River and Bronx
River-Sound Shore Audubon groups. 62 species total.

18 warbler species:

Yellow (1)
Magnolia (a few)
CAPE MAY (1 male bathing at The Point)
Black-throated Blue (many)
CERULEAN (1 female)
Black-throated Green (many)
Yellow-rumped (abundant)
Palm (1)
Prairie (a few)
Blackpoll (many)
BAY-BREASTED (1 male)
Nashville (several)
Northern Parula (abundant)
Black-and-white (many)
American Redstart (2)
Common Yellowthroat (3)
Northern Waterthrush (3)
Ovenbird (several)

A male SUMMER TANAGER popped into view near (not on) the Point. The
bird was well into molt, with just a tinge of yellow remaining on the
breast. Despite many minutes spent trying to relocate it, we were
unable to. I thought I got good pictures, but then realized my camera
had focused on the tree behind the bird...

A flyover immature RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen for just a few
seconds overhead, but the white secondary patches were clearly visible.

A female RUSTY BLACKBIRD was foraging on the south side of Turtle Pond.

Other birds of note were Scarlet Tanager, Great Crested Flycatcher,
Eastern Kingbird, Blue-headed Vireo, and Wood Thrush.

Good birding,
