The Queens County Bird Club had a great trip to WPR, the weather held up with just a few brief showers, and in addition to the expected breeding birds, butterflies & dragonflies, the unquestionable highlight of the day was a MISSISSIPPI KITE that flew over us at 5:05pm on Michigan Road. Since there were still a few hours of daylight, we tried to phone several people, but unfortunately, we were in a "dead zone" and no one could get a cell signal. The bird arrived from the east (CT) and flew over us to the west. All in the group were able to get good looks and other possibilities were ruled out.
