In the Fort Edwards grasslands (Washington County) on Friday morning I had 2 Sedge Wrens singing on Plum Road about 150 yards south of the intersection with Swamp Road. The front of the field has already been cut so it's possible that more is about to be cut but maybe it's too wet to cut the back right way. Some other birds seen or heard in the area were a Vesper Sparrow along Carey Road, 2 Northern Harriers and very many Willow Flycatchers, Savannah Sparrows, Eastern Meadowlarks and Bobolinks.
Other Washington County brding included: In the town of Kingsbury on the dirt road along the old canal running NE to Smith's Basin there was another N. Harrier and a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Also seen were 2 coyotes. Up in Fort Ann there's a large sandpit with a colony of Bank Swallows on CR 16 just a little before Hogtown Road goes off to the left. A rough count came to 120 nest holes. Some birds along Hogtown Road were Blue-headed Vireo, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, Black-thr. Blue Warbler, Yellow-rumped W., Black-thr. Green W, Blackburnian W. and, up at Hogtown (such as it is), Golden-crowned Kinglet and Pine Warbler.
