There was a good showing of summer seabirds at Shinnecock Inlet from 5-6 p.m. today. Conservative estimates are 12 Greater Shearwaters, 12 Cory's Shearwaters, 2 Sooty Shearwaters, and 8 Wilson's Storm-petrels. The birds were lolling around, making estimates difficult. Several shearwaters followed a fishing boat into the Inlet, coming very close to the jetties. A few Northern gannets rounded out the show.
