An excursion to Floyd Bennett Field with Lila and Richard Fried was quite successful this morning, as we encountered 3 of the Juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS continuing from earlier in the week and were treated to stellar looks. Later we ran into Shane Blodgett, whom we birded the community garden with. It was not particularly birdy there, but we did find a CLAY COLORED SPARROW along with a Palm Warbler, several song and savannah sparrows, and house finches at the N end of the garden. The bird was not especially skulky but not responsive to a brief pishing attempt either. Both the sandpipers and the Sparrow were well photographed. The only raptor noted was a northern Harrier flying south, high over the community garden, though we didn't go through the large fields. Some shorebirds were moving over, and these were 4 Sanderling (basic) and a semipalmated plover. About 20 killdeer were seen together in the short grass N of the community garden and seemed quite content there. Good Birding,Jacob Drucker --
