Even though there were many pairs of eyes, the intrepid birders of NYBG could not relocate the long eared owls spotted at last week's bird walk. Evidence of the owls were everywhere- white wash, pellets and even the remains of a devoured mammal.
We were able to spot the saw whet owl and both male and female great horned owl. The male owl is closer to the nest and in full view. Also spotted were: Rusty blackbird-1 Red winged blackbirds -3 Grackles-4 White breasted nuthatch-2 White throated sparrows-many Song sparrows-2 Red bellied woodpeckers-2 Tufted titmouse-3 Chickadees-many Mockingbird-1 Blue jay-1 Cardinals-4 Good birding, Debbie Becker -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://birdingonthe.net/mailinglists/NYSB.html 3) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
