Mid morning, from the Point restaurant veranda, a Yellow-breasted Chat was
heard and seen, near the dirt trail leading to the beach. Water birds were
relatively few in number, with Common Eider, Surf and Black Scoters, Common and
Red-throated Loons there as expected. Calm seas and no wind may have
contributed to the low numbers. At Culloden Point, the two recently reported
Razorbills were still present, and a fox sparrow was seen in the parking area.
A Cooper's Hawk was resting on the phone wires, near the Montauk Airport. Not
the most birdy of Montauk days, but it was pleasant to be out there!
