Several people asked me today about previous records of Grace's
Warbler in the East. I couldn't think of any but did some searching
this evening to see what, if anything turns up. Seems there is at
least one substantiated record east of the Mississippi (just), a
well-photographed bird at Montrose Point, Chicago (Cook Co.), Illinois
in September 2003.

There may also be records from Quebec and Newfoundland but I've not
been able to track down the specifics. On the wrong side of the
Mississippi River, there is also a May 2008 record from western
Nebraska (Garden Co.). That's it! Anybody find any other E-o-t-M
records?

Hats of to Doug and Andrew for a really outstanding find and kudos to
Seth and other for spreading the news via posts or phone calls. I can
easily believe 150-200 people saw the bird today. It will interesting
what other goodies the Southern Nassau CBC turns up and let's hope the
warbler reappears tomorrow.

Prompt posting of any news (positive or negative) will be helpful to
other folks contemplating the drive from more distant parts.
