You are invited to participate in a study being conducted by Makayla Boyd and Dr. Todd Underwood at Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. The purpose of our study is to determine the types of seed-based bird feeders people in the United States use and how they clean their feeders. Knowledge of actual feeder cleaning practices is important to determine whether people need to be encouraged to improve these practices in light of other research on the growth of bacteria and fungi on feeders. To accomplish this goal, we have created a survey that should only take about five to ten minutes of your time. Fourteen questions will be asked about the type of feeder you own and how you clean your bird feeder. We have obtained permission from the List's owner, Christopher Tessaglia-Hymes, to post this survey and we hope you take the time to complete it. No personal information such as your name, age, or address will be asked. No risks or direct benefits to you will come from completing this survey. Your participation in this study is completely voluntary and you are able to stop the survey at any point in time without penalty.
