I saw on ebird that a Common Merganser was reported at Roslyn Gerry Park. Went
to go see if I could spot it before work and I was able to locate the female
Common Merganser this morning at around 7:20 in the northern-most pond in the
park. I come to this park frequently and this is the first Common Merg that
I've seen here. She did not like to stay up for long but I was thankful to get
a few good looks.

Other sightings included much of the late winter regulars... a lone Pied-billed
Grebe, a well camouflaged Great Blue Heron, a bunch of Mallards with an
American Black Duck, several hundred roosting Canada Geese, a calling Carolina
Wren, a singing Song Sparrow, a shining male Bufflehead, a couple of
Red-breasted Mergansers (male sporting an excellent mohawk haircut, and
female), a couple of whistling American Coots, and a handful of gulls floating
in the water (Herring and Ring-billed). Good birding to you all.
