Jim Ash found an adult CURLEW SANDPIPER on the far west side of the bay side
flats at Mecox Inlet this morning.

The bird remained on site when I left around 10:30 AM. While the bird is
transitioning to basic plumage it is still retaining quite a bit of color and
can be easily picked out among the peeps in which it is associating with.

*** Parking will likely be an issue for non Southampton Town residents. Traffic
Control was out and about when I left the site. I never directly crossed paths
with any Law Enforcement officials but it doesn't hurt to explain the situation
to these folks prior to entering the beach.

Best,
Derek Rogers
