There were 2 birds I neglected to mention in my post from earlier today. Early this morning, around 3:40 AM, there was a SORA calling from the wetland along Rt 37 in West Monroe. This is where Little Bat Creek passes under Rt 37 about 3/4 mile or so south of Rt 49.
Also, while out in the yard this morning, I heard a MERLIN calling from somewhere south of my property. Last year, a pair made an unsuccessful nesting attempt in a White Pine across the street from my house. Looks like they are back to try again, but not in the same tree. I have not ascertained exactly where they are yet, but it shouldn’t take me long to do so.
