Tues., 20 May 2014 - Riverside Park "drip", Manhattan, N.Y. City
In the mid-day and late afternoon hours, Jeff Nulle kept track of some migrants that were visiting the "drip" area, & were coming in to bathe &/or drink there, with a highlight of a Bay-breasted Warbler doing just that. There were at least 10 additional warbler species at the drip itself, plus males & females of Scarlet Tanager and Indigo Bunting plus some other regular migrants & potential local breeders (E. Kingbird, Red-eyed Vireo among them). The drip area is a very short way south of the tennis courts located at approx. 120 St. inside Riverside Park west of Riverside Drive. There is no seating, but some observers bring their own small stool to sit; the observing is from the path only. I had just briefly gone for a look there, and J.N. kindly shared the sightings of the day; a few other observers had also come by and saw some of what Jeff did.
