OBS: R. DeCandido, D. Allen, m.ob. and some excellent birders

Today we had two bird walks, one starting at 7:30 am and another
starting at 9:00am with most of the 7:30 birders continuing. This is the
combined list:

Green Heron – (DA before 9 am walk)

Downy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Northern Flicker
American Kestrel
Peregrine Falcon
Great Crested Flycatcher – 2 together
Eastern Kingbird
Warbling Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Black-capped Chickadee
White-breasted Nuthatch
Carolina Wren
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Veery
Wood Thrush
Gray Catbird
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush
Blue-winged Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
American Redstart
Northern Parula
Magnolia Warbler
Yellow Warbler
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Baltimore Oriole

Miriam Rakowski reported a Rose-breasted Grosbeak at the Upper Lobe.

The Green Heron at Turtle Pond was a hatch-year bird.
During the ten minutes that I watched it fishing, it made five attempts and
caught four fish, an 80% success rate- not bad for a youngster on a
duckweed-covered
pond. Bob tells me the fish were bluegills.
