Today 40+ people showed for the Bartow-Pell Museum/ City Island Birds walk. Highlights included glorious views of 200+ Forster’s Terns over the Orchard Beach Lagoon. We saw more than more than 30 Osprey, 22 of which were in a loose kettle over the lagoon as well. Also present were 8 Great-blue Herons, numerous Great Egrets and an immature Bald Eagle fishing. Birders were greeted by a very habituated Wild Turkey as they parked their car. Flickers and Phoebes were numerous and a very cooperative Ruby-throated Hummingbird hung out in the Mansion Garden for everyone to observe. With so many people, not everybody saw everything but we did our best to get everyone on the birds, thanks to the expertise of “Bronx” Brendan Keogh and Richard Aracil.
