The North Shore Audubon Society will hold its monthly program on Tuesday,
November 24, 2015, from 7pm to 9pm, at the Manhasset Public Library, 30
Onderdonk Avenue, Manhasset NY 11030.  All are invited, free of charge.

Public transportation users:  This location is a half-mile walk from the
Manhasset LIRR station.

 

Chris Cryder will present "Preserving Plum Island for Future Generations " 

Plum Island is the site of the Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC)
which was established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
in 1954. The Island is also the site of the former U.S. military
installation Fort Terry (c. 1897), the historic Plum Island Light (c. 1869),
and its automated replacement.

 

Mr. Cryder is the Special Projects Coordinator of Save the Sound.  Save the
Sound is a bi-state program of CT Fund for the Environment, based in New
Haven.  He has been working for Save the Sound for the past eight years.  He
is currently the Outreach Coordinator for the Preserve Plum Island
Coalition.
