Central Park NYC - Reservoir Saturday April 30, 2016 The Horned Grebe continuing at the Reservoir was first reported yesterday (4/29/16) by Junko Suzuki who tweeted it at 9:35AM. Others saw it later on Friday and also today. I spent around 2 hours at the Reservoir this morning from 6:09 to a little after 8am and saw the grebe immediately, feeding actively on the east side of the Reservoir from about 89th Street to just a bit south of the NE corner.
It was quite a treat to see a breeding-plumaged Horned Grebe up close. Here's one of the photos from this morning: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18226104 A big thank you to Junko for getting the word out on this bird.
