Late this afternoon around 5 there was a nice collection of shorebirds on the
spit opposite the gazebo at the Coast Guard station, many in breeding plumage,
highlighted by about 5 Red Knots. Also present were Dunlin, SB Dowitchers,
Sanderlings, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Piping & Black-bellied Plover, and
Oystercatchers. 3 lingering Black Scoters were also in the area.
Passerine-wise it was dead - not a single warbler, vireo, etc, only Towhees,
Mockers, House Finch and Tree Swallows
