Please read my post above!

Clients not paying invoice IS NOT unique to web development industry!
It is a problem common to any industry where the good/service is
delivered first before asking payment.

Not all websites are for the purpose of selling physical items or to
directly make money. There are plethora of websites that are web
presence for organisations/companies (including non profit
organisations, yes, some non profit organisations have nice websites
that they paid for). Website is a communication tool, not just for
directly selling stuffs like Trademe. Government websites, promotional
websites, on-line competition websites, informational websites,
on-line magazine, etc.

And, again, where do you get the data that "most NZers" prefer to buy
their stuff at a bricks and mortar stopfront? I for one hate to burn
fossil fuel, risking accident, waiting at traffic, etc to go and buy
something I could order on-line.

Just because you can't see how people are making money
directly/indirectly through websites, doesn't mean you need to talk so
badly about the industry!
