Hi Everyone,

I'm assisting in a server transfer of several hundred websites which needs to be completed very soon. We are looking for 1 or 2 junior developers to help out with this for a few days.

The sites are a mixed bag - mostly static HTML, some custom PHP, some OSCommerce / other CMS sites.

Please contact me off list if interested.

Ideally we are looking for the following:
- You can be available for 2-3 days either over the weekend or early next week. - You have hosted a few sites yourself, of have shifted sites between hosting providers at least a few times. An understanding of this basic process is essential. - You know how to use FTP, edit config files, setup MySQL databases and import/export data, use phpMyAdmin, etc. - You have at least a basic knowledge of the Linux command line - moving, editing, deleting, permissions, and ideally command line FTP, command-line MySQL, how to compress and extract a .tar.gz, etc. - You understand DNS - the steps involved in making a site live, how to hack your Windows hosts file (or non-Windows equivalent), etc. - You know enough about PHP to be able to debug errors that might popup, or if it's too hard then leave a good fault description that I can understand.

You don't need to be in Auckland or even NZ, but proper communication and decent English is essential. Most of the sites are straightforward and non-complicated, and I will be available to deal with the more complicated ones. We are offering junior pay for a junior position - $20 per hour. There usually seem to be a few junior devs lurking around these waters, so hopefully this catches someone's interest.

Email me on [email protected] if interested; please let me know a little bit about yourself, contact details and your availability.

Thanks,

Harvey.
