[~reschke], patch-2 looks good to me. what i noticed though (unrelated to the
proposed changes): the default implementation of the replacement
{{getMembershipPrincipals}} calls the deprecated method {{getGroupMembership}}
that is up for removal. i see why we have that today but it still feels a bit
wrong.
