Yes, that would be the plan. Gradually moving forward version by version. 
Currently I am experimenting using AI to do this as well as improving my own 
understanding of the codebase. This will likely be a long running background 
task.

(And it so happens I am in the indexing team, so I have direct access to 
feedback)
