Outlook for this year is not attractive due to weak demand. However, the company is planning two projects to be developed this year and start commercial operation in 4Q09 or early 2010. The first project is to develop coating glass with Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) technology in Sidoardjo, East Java with capex of US$24.5m. The technology will help electricity saving cost. Margin is also better than old the company’s products (selling price is expected four until five folds than old products). BPS (Central Statistics Bureau) is expected to release the figure today. The country’s economy probably grew at the fastest pace in Southeast Asia in 1Q09 as buoyant local spending helped the nation fend off the global recession. Singapore ’s economy shrank the most since at least 1975 in 1Q09 and Thailand ’s Finance Minister estimates a 6% GDP contraction. Consumer confidence in Indonesia soared to a four-year high in April, according to a central bank survey. On the election, approaching the deadline to register for candidates for President and Vice President, so far it is expected that there will be 3 pairs: Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto, Yudhoyono-Boediono, and Megawati-Prabowo. The third pair, however, is still uncertain, as there are rumors that Megawati has not reached agreement with Prabowo over some issues.
