pernah liat kereta yang rangkaian gerbongnya sampai 1 mil? saya
pernah. penasaran liat kereta yang puanjang banget, iseng-iseng saya
ukur panjangnya. kebetulan dia ada dipinggir jalan, jadi cukup reset
itungan di odometer aja. ternyata oh ternyata, rangkaiannya 1 mil, bo!
nyaris 2 km!

bayangin, berapa banyak barang yang bisa dikirim dengan kereta seperti
itu. kalo yang dikirim batubara, barang berat, hasil tambang atau
komoditas massal, sepertinya kereta lebih ekonomis dibandingkan truk
apalagi pesawat. amerika negara daratan, jadi gak mungkin ngirim
barang dari LA ke NY pake kapal laut.
