I have just read the article on the front page of the Peoples Post for this
week. The heading being as shown in the subject line of this mail.

We definitely need to as a suburb need to kick against this one due to the
fact that very few people kicked against Woolworths Financials moving into
the Old Lion Match Factory, and see what a mess has happened to the
residents accessibility, after this we have the next problem of the Factory
Apartments when they open will also be a nightmare with extra cars parked
in the suburb- can we stop being greedy and think of our suburb for a
change.

1. We have very narrow street unlike other suburbs.

2. We all live on the door step of these places, yet we are trapped due
to insufficient parking being insisted upon for workers and visitors, of
these large businesses that are moving into Obs.

3. The roads have become disaster areas due to the narrowness, the
amount of extra traffic, the amount of extra cars parked in the street.
During business hours the driving through these streets is a nightmare.

4. Streets painted with YELLOW or RED lines for no parking are ignored,
and people continue to park on these lines.

5. The traffic cops earning a few extra cents for the City on writing
out tickets every now and again instead of being in the area daily and
giving tickets on a daily basis for bad parking, etc, etc. Maybe with a daily
issue of tickets to the offenders these people will use public transport.

6. I see the roads around Howe Street have now got red lines to indicate
no parking,- well think again I see the cars parked on these red lines.

7. Trying to enter Lower Main Road from Bishop street or even from St
Michaels Road is a nightmare as you cannot see the oncoming traffic, due to
these parked cars.

8. All these extra cars have come from insufficient parking facilities
at Woolworths financials. I say this as this problem started when this
company opened its doors in the suburb.

Now we want to repeat the same mistakes and disaster in Station Road, with
this four storey building, diagonally across from the Catholic Church.
Insufficient off street parking for the tenants and their visitors.

If you are unsure about this parking nightmare - do yourself a favour, first
try and find parking in this area Station Road down to Scott Road, Station
Road down and including the side streets to Howe Road - down to the railway
line.

Try driving or entering Lower main road from the side streets, and you will
see what I am getting at.

Come Observatory let us put a stop to this raping of a beautiful suburb.

Doug
