Yes language is a huge problem from the moment you phone the security company it can easily take 3 min. to explain the problem and where they must go.. When you are trying to get action to a specific point , it is vital to have someone on duty that can understand what you are saying. Funny enough , we did not have this with VS . They were swift and fast and stopped crime to the extent that OBS was a pleasure to live in. It really turned for the worst , since they left. There is a very good person OBSID should consider employing. He is a white guy, who speaks perfect English (from Natal ) . Is a security guard and worked for Spar and stayed at the YMCA , but has since moved, but needing desperately to come back and get employment. I have his CV . He can literally start tomorrow. He would be a great person to have at the phone as he understand security . Knows the OBS thugs mostly too from experience. He is loyal and committed and that is just one person who can make a huge difference. Regards A. A coloured man was sitting inside the car. I noticed OBSID van standing in Wrench Road, next to the school and I drove down quickly to report that suspicious looking vehicle. One guard , was standing outside talking to the driver. I told them to quickly go down London to check this vehicle out and then I saw the car in my rear view mirror turning into London but reversing back into Norwich Road. I asked the guards to hurry as he could be moving off. As usual the guard gave me a totally ignorant look and smile and took very little notice of what I said , until I raised my voice and said they are too slow. It is impossible to have pro- active guarding with guards , who simply do not have what it takes and until that is changed, we will remain to be at huge risk in OBS and most of our own efforts, to report and be the eyes and ears , is a waste of our time and energy to a large extent. We will only ever be able to be re-active in our efforts.
