Hallo Natasha,

I'm sending you a copy of this email which is circulating so that you can
prepare yourself. Apologies for forwarding the entire thread but there was no
quick way on my device to cut the irrelevant communications which pertain to
other noise issues.

Your lighting is obviously causing a problem with your neighbours. I recommend
you do something about it so as to compromise with your street community.

The alternative is that you will most likely come under fire from the
'community' if you decide to ignore the concerns of the neighbours and this may
well put your business into jeopardy.

I don't support the idea of strangling people's initiatives and I fully support
the concept 33 South offers, however it's wise to understand the rules of
engagement and the fine line between a primary use as a residence and that of a
commercial enterprise.

Is 33 South registered as a business, do you have permission to erect signage
or did you go through any process to operate or advertise as a back packers?

When you purchased the 'business' what was your understanding of the zoning and
operating conditions?

I hope you can sort out this issue amicably, I'm in strong support of
individuals being able to operate under the GR2 zoning regulations and to rent
rooms to foreign students as this is very much part of the Observatory Boho
student vibe and of course essential to the success of the many eateries that
operate on Lower Main - but if one wants to generate income in this model one
needs to ensure the neighbours concerns are addressed.

If you need further discussion on this subject please don't hesitate to give me
a call and we should meet up.

Happy New Year!

Barbara Langridge
