Great to see community proposal coming in!

My only real comment is as follows:

I am not sure the Board really needs vote on this type of small expenditure.
Rather than the SIG ask the Board for funds for individual items (such as the
printing of the stickers) I feel it would be better for the the SIG to manage
its own funding decisions internally through what ever processes it sees fits.
OSGeo Oceania can assist this by making funds available as part of an annual
budget for the SIG to manage (I thought I did see this in the initial SIG
drafts but I may be mistaken).

As the budget has already been set for 20/21 and includes $10,000 for Outreach
and community support (see
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cbd3Rt5R688qrZ3eTCHxpRZ8HbII358_1UARf3m5qBs/edit#gid=0)
then I think all it really requires is that the QGIS SIG Chair submits a
request to OSGeo Oceania for 'Funding' and annual budget (say $2500?), then the
Board discusses and (hopefully) approves (as we have budget allocated). The the
QGIS SIG can then manage its own budget how it sees fit, and in a timely
matter, and in turn the OSGeo Board can focus large strategic issues.

I would like to think that the above could resolved in a similar time period as
in asking for $400.

Greg.

That's excellent. I have just put the proposal on Loomio

so we can get you an answer soon.

Great, thanks! A quote just came in for AUD $377 including GST for 1000
stickers. Can we proceed based on that?

Hi John,

Thanks for getting the ball rolling following the QGIS SIG charter approval.
This sounds like a great idea and I'd love to see the board supporting more
community proposals like this one.

Perhaps we can wait for the quotes to come in and then put it to a board vote
on Loomio. I think technically it only requires 1 person to approve as it is
under $1,000, but it's probably good practice to vote on proposals like this
one.

How do the rest of the board and community feel?

Hi OSGeo Oceania board, I have a small funding request on behalf of the
newly-established QGIS Special Interest Group.

We'd like to purchase QGIS stickers to be distributed at QGIS events, training
sessions, etc around the region. The idea is that we'd make one large order, to
take advantage of bulk discounts, and distribute them by post to anyone running
a QGIS-related event in Oceania (including FOSS4G SotM Oceania).

We're waiting on quotes but the order would cost in the range of AUD $400 for
1000 stickers, and the cost of postage would depend on requests, probably a few
dollars per month.

Would OSGeo Oceania be willing to cover the cost?

Cheers
John
