well, the current procedure looks a bit complicated and un-secure (manually deleting the contents of the directories directly on the web- server could lead to messy mistakes). Also, at least the way I did it, this procedure requires quite a few unix utilities, I'd be curious to hear comments from package maintainers using windows.
