I found that a few of the additional packages seemed to install without a 
problem, whereas others didn't. I'm sure you are right, additional 
development is required for the Windows versions.

My impression (I'm not a Windows developer) is that the packages
included with the Windows installer are the only ones the currently
build on Windows. So (without being the expert, so I might be wrong), I
think you would need to do some actual debugging and development to get
these packages to work under Windows.
