I would still see it implemented as the comment method because this keeps the
information packaged in the editor file whilst keeping the editor file usable in
a text editor...

Yes it seems that if it can keep the breakpoints it should be able to keep the
editor positions however this may introduce issues with the multiple people
working in a project.  A reason for a sandbox development model?
