We had similar problems which WERE caused by Norton's.  We exclude our DB
and work dirs from the auto protect paths (this stops random crashes !).
Also Nortons can cause OLE problems with Crystal reports, even disabling
Nortons does not fix this.  You must disable script blocking (this is a
known Symantec problem).
