I've heard rumours that Southland has got regional dev money for wireless broadband; and in wake of this Telecom scrambled to make deal for rural copper broadband in Otago. Telecom have a lot to lose if another company establishes good wireless network. Doubt Walker Wireless are worried about revenue loss from Voice over IP. All 4th-hand knowledge of course but probably verifiable. ---------------------------------------------------------- Phil Scadden, Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences 764 Cumberland St, Private Bag 1930, Dunedin, New Zealand Ph +64 3 4799663, fax +64 3 477 5232 _______________________________________________ Offtopic mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://ns3.123.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/offtopic
