Here is my draft message, please verify I have the dates correct & that it makes sense before I send out to everyone :)
QUESTION: Our election calendar has the grant deadline set as Monday, Feb 15th at 0:00hrs. I assume that means by 11:59PM on Feb 14. Feb 15 is a holiday in the US, so I wonder if that is the best choice? Would we want it to be a business day? (which would also mean not closing at 11:59PM the day before). I also agree with Plocher's comments in the last meeting - some of these dates would be more clear if presented as 11:59PM vs 0:00hrs. Anyways... the message... Subject: Election notice: Grants must be verified! Hello OpenSolaris folks - This year's annual election for OpenSolaris Governing Board members, as well as for a new constitution, is just around the corner. In order to participate in this election, you need to have an unexpired Core Contributor grant and you must have logged into the new OpenSolaris Auth system and have authenticated your account. If both things have not occurred by February 15, 2010 (0:00hrs), then you will not be eligible to vote in this election. You can see your current grant status here: http://poll.opensolaris.org/ (click on the Grants tab) You can authenticate with the OpenSolaris site by logging in to the site and validating all of your information. Once you log in, simply click on your username and then select "Agreements" on the left hand side. You can also check your grants here by selecting "Collectives".
