So you come up with a new name. What then?

Are you proposing that the OpenSolaris community be renamed?

Essentially you have to fork; with a Sun-supported OpenSolaris
branch and some external insert-name-here branch.

Perhaps that's not such a bad thing. The OpenSolaris community
would end up being those aligned with Sun's aims; others could
find or form other communities and organizations more closely aligned
to their aims. It would remove the political tensions inherent in a
community that has groups trying to head in different directions.
There's no reason people couldn't be involved in more than one of
these different organizations. And I note that Nexenta hasn't done
too badly out of staying independent.
