hi ...

We are not going to migrate unopened projects, communities, and user
groups -- the things that have been in a hidden state on the site. Some
have been in that state for 1-3 years now. So, I am communicating with
those 40 or so groups now, and I am opening the ones that want to be
opened and deleting the ones that the leaders say should be deleted
(they went another direction, the project was canceled, they will open
later, etc ... many reasons). I have been doing that for two days now,
and will continue till I have worked my way through the list.

With respect to the current content on the site: the tonic team is
assessing the common content and where it lives as well as the feature
list between the current site and the future site so we can properly map
things as we move. We are moving to a new site and things will be
different, so there will be some adjustments. We are not looking at the
content in project/community/osug spaces, though. That`s up to the
community leaders to look at since everyone owns their own content in
their own groups. Anyway, as part of that process, I suggested that this
would be a good time for everyone to look around their spaces to do a
little house cleaning before we move to the new site. There is no sense
in moving stuff that is going to get deleted or people don`t want
anymore, etc. It`s natural for humans to accumulate unneeded stuff over
time, that`s all. Now, if people look around and say they are all set,
then fine. We go with what we have. And that will be the case with the
vast majority of groups. However, I am sure that as community leaders
poke around they will find dead groups or unused infrastructure with no
owners and that stuff should be looked at. That`s pretty much it, really.
