Why?
The latter (to me) seems to be fulfilled by a (until today) fairly low 
traffic tools-discuss list.
The former is not OpenSolaris.org's issue.  It certainly seems as 
reasonable to me that you or someone else should fulfill the need rather 
than OpenSolaris.

Why should OpenSolaris fill it?

We don't have lists for:
a) Java
b) Sendmail
c) Apache
d) awk
e) sed
f) grep
... the list could go on.
Should we drop support for those?
