Always a good strategy, IMHO. I have seen OGL items out now that use "DM"
and "Dungeon Master," I think, but then I've also seen outright violations
of the licenses out there too. The fact a fuss isn't made now doesn't
guarantee there will never a fuss be made. Though of course IANAL and this
does not constitute legal advice. ;) Just common sense.

Just be warned that if you start calling magic "heka" instead, a bunch of us
will pimp-slap you.

But seriously -- I'd avoid reinventing the wheel.

Why Game Moderator rather than Game Master? It's a Jonathan Tweet thing.
In Over the Edge, he explains (in that you
can't-tell-if-he's-half-tongue-in-cheek Jonathan way) that OTE uses
"moderator" rather than "master" to get out of the "sexist, heirarchical"
mindset. I do think "moderator" connotes "we're doing this as a shared
endeavor and I'm just here to play referee" rather than "I'm the boss, your
job is to receive my story-making genius." In the end, one should simply
make a choice and then be consistent.
