I don't know if this a debate for this list, but if you want, I'll gladly tell you why Ryan is wrong.

In all the years I've seen of Ryan's online presence, it's been a rare occurence to see him be completely wrong. I've also never seen him behave irrationally on a mailing list. I'd say speak your mind, but beware the other people who might not have Ryan's restraint.
Wrong: in matters of economics? Not so far. In matters of ideology? All the time. Or, rather, "much" wrong--maybe not "completely" wrong. Anyway, i don't think he's completely wrong on the Origins Awards: they *do* need fixing. But his proposal makes them worse, not better--precisely because of matters of ideology: he believes that popularity/sales are a valid measure of quality. I believe that there is almost no correlation between quality and sales, due to the large number of disconnects between how the two are decided.
Irrational: i'm not even sure why you mentioned that--what's the relevance? Has anyone accused Ryan of being irrational, and i missed it? [Also, don't forget that Ryan didn't post his letter here--someone else copied it here from a website.]

The Laws of Anime <http://www.abcb.com/laws/index.htm>: #38 Law of Hydrostatic Emission Eyes tend to be rather large in Anime. This is because they contain several gallons of water, which may be instantaneously released at high pressure through large tear ducts. The actual volume of water contained in the eyes is unknown, as there is no evidence to suggest that these reservoirs are actually capable of running out. The reason water tends to collect in the eyes is because Anime characters only have one large sweat gland, which is located at the back of the head. When extremely stressed, embarrassed, or worried, this sweat gland exudes a single but very large drop of sebaceous fluid. _______________________________________________ Ogf-l mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.opengamingfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/ogf-l
