It actually took me a year or two to learn the difference between the commands, because I never scripted any plot scenes. Luckily it's in fact it's pretty easy to work out which command takes what: everything takes battle slot by default, or caterpillar position when manipulating the heroes placed on the map. Hero definition ID number is only used in one or two places including findhero.
