I know you've probably explained the rules to me before, buy why is it a problem for Fedora to link with ffmpeg in the ordinary way?
I guess if you wanted to submit a PR that includes a build-time switch that would cause it to somehow dynamically load it (versus link it), I would certainly entertain the idea of merging it (especially if the default was the usual linkage). But I don't have the time to do it myself.
