Can you explain a little more what you are trying to do with the ASIN? As mentioned, ISBNs are valid ASINS on Amazon. The only time you see an ASIN for a book that isn't an ISBN, is when it is an odd edition. There is no ASIN for the work as a whole on Amazon. For example, if you look at: http://www.amazon.com/blah/dp/0756404738 http://www.amazon.com/blah/dp/B00475AYJQ http://www.amazon.com/blah/dp/B004PTGN8A they take you to the respective editions of the book, which cross-reference each other. No single ID for the whole work on Amazon. And honestly, you don't want the ASIN to refer to the work. For example, these two are the same work: http://www.amazon.com/blah/dp/B001IKJLK6 http://www.amazon.com/blah/dp/B001343GI0 but they aren't interchangeable. I also see that somebody added "Amazon ASIN#" to the bottom of the list of identifier types in OL. This is in addition to Amazon.com, amazon.ca, amazon uk, and a few others listed near the top of the list. Which admittedly are a little ambiguous, but I wonder if there already some ASINs under these other ID types. Perhaps this needs some better coordination. - Alan _______________________________________________ Ol-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.archive.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/ol-discuss To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send email to [email protected]
