Rather than wrestle with a greasy old starter and bash your knuckles 
in the cold you can simply look at the raised (casted in) number on 
the left front side of the cylinder head ~ if it ends in " 848 " you 
may rest assured you have a 1956 or newer 235 with the improved top 
end oiling passeges , no need to go further unless you really care 
what year it was made...

taking the starter off. Manual dexterity suffers. Truck is in an
