Thanks for clearing that up. I personally have not had problems with the old
"Chevy Duty" and I'm glad to hear this wasn't the outfit that you were
referring to.

have never had any dealings with Classic Parts of America (aka Chevy Duty).
And in fact I really had no problems with ACTP until I tried to return this
one part, then the complexion changed completely. I have had good dealings
with Chevys of the 40s, the Filling Station, Hampton Coach, and Carters, but
to be fair I have never tried to return any parts to these vendors.

It is becoming clear to me that these parts houses don't really source any
of these parts, and in many cases they don't even stock the parts
themselves. They just front for the places that really manufacture the
parts. The case of the bed cross sill that I purchased is a good example.
I ordered the part for ACTP, but it shipped to me directly from an outfit
call Mack Hills. That is why it was doubly insulting that ACTP charged me
20% restocking fee when in fact they never touched the part. And ACTP
marked it up from $40 to $70. John L.

Ps. If anyone is trying to rebuild some seats and needs replacement seat
springs, I just purchased some nice springs from Snyders Antique Auto
(http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com). They were very nice to do business
with. They mistakenly sent me the wrong size springs at first, but then
just promptly sent the correct size after that at no extra charge, and did
not require me to return the other springs. They mainly deal in Model A and
Model T Ford parts, but they sell two different types of springs in various
lengths, strong ones for the seat and weaker springs for the seat back.
