Does it appear to be horse hair? I would use plain solvent and watch for any
deterioration. .bill in corvallis

Subject: [old-chevy-truck] air cleaner question

I recently picked up an oil bath air cleaner for my 40 half ton. The element
inside is caked up with sludge, and I'd like to clean it up real well before
using it. It doesn't appear to come apart. So, my question is: What's the
best way to clean it?

I thought about soaking it in lacquer thinner, or gasoline but thought I'd
check the list first. Lacquer thinner is getting very pricey.

Thanks
Mike
