I wonder if anyone has thought about contacting your local Detroit Diesel
distributor. I wouldn't be surprised if they had what you're looking for on
their shelves. They used that green for as long as I can remember.

Man, I can only hope that your green is the factory correct green for my 261
-- that is one great looking color! Feel the envy.

freshly painted GMC 270 engine. It is going in a 1946 GMC truck and the
green color is correct for that year. The engine actually was manufactured
in 1949, so I've cheated a little. I have no factory specs. I determined the
proper color from a search of the oldgmc.com web site and confirmed the
color through Jim Carter Truck parts. It is only sold in quart cans and to
my knowledge Carter is the only on who sells it.

270 with this color and will provide a picture if you are interested.

if not a perfect match for some of the remaining paint I find on this 261
that at least has a block ID confirming it as 1959 vintage. I just wondered
if anyone has any knowledge or links that will confirm that this is the
paint used on this engine from the factory.
