When I built my shop about two years ago, two options I decided to go with
and LOVE were:

2 ½ ton A/C and heat pump (I live in AZ, and a shop without A/C is HELL…
literally)

A roll up garage door verse the traditional garage door. It saves on ceiling
space (for a lift later) and looks much cleaner.

This item wasn’t taken into consideration when I built the shop, but added
later. I white board, I know it sounds odd but I use it all the time.

I too put tons of 110 outlets (every 6’), but wish I had put in a couple
more 220 outlets.

If you want to see a picture of the finished shop, send me an E-mail
directly (jim_kro...@yahoo.com) and I’ll send you some (or you can join my
facebook page and see the shop and the 57).

Jim

Seal the floor with one of those epoxy paint systems. Others on the e-mail
list will probably tell you their favorite.

Finally !!! I'm going to get a garage just in time for retirement. No more
tarp tent, no more crawling around on gravel and dirt, no more magnets to
try and find the nut I dropped in the dirt ....... The list goes on.

Anyway I'm looking for input on design items to include.
I have already considered
1. 10 ft ceiling
2. Wall plugs high and low, several 220 circuits, a few plugs on the ceiling
for retractable extension cords.
3. Lots of fluorescent lighting
4. Dead level smooth floor
5. 2 ft windows up high for ambient light

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
