hi all

Working on my neighbors 235  that is a circa 1957 block.  Had poor oil pressure 
. Put in a new pump which improved things quite a bit.  At this point, warmed 
up it is in the  3-20 range in the garage.  Not likely to cut it on a hot day
in July.

Got him to do the rod bearings with Plastigauge.  Says he got  .0028"  .    Is 
that large enough to contribute to low pressure? (theory:  a lot of tiny leaks  
=  one good sized leak).     I would have hoped for more like  .0015.  I assume 
the main bearings are comparable although he has not checked them yet.

Any thoughts appreciated!   The block is in a 1946  half ton.

when you run out, valvoline syntech full synthetic has the most ZINC in a 
automotive oil BUT you should still use ZINC additive or continue to use one of 
the "racing" oils like lucas, royal purple, and so forth-you know $$$$$$$$

why?

because our "NANNY" society thinks that ZINC is making engines last too long 
and so they are removing most if not all of it from oil. Our flat tappet cams 
need high zinc or extreme wear will occur...
google it if you want to learn for yourself.
