Don't panic .

Did you try to remove the butter fly disc plate ? .

Or is this the adjusting screw on the outer end of the throttle shaft ? .

If you're done here , just go toRock Auto parts .com and order up one , they 
have a very good rebuilder in the MidWest , I forget where but the quality is 
impressive .

Else , buy another carby and swap the parts you need out .

Some times the old carby has simply had too many miles and heat cycles and dies 
in your hand .
